112 was created by SEU students with students in mind. There are 112 days in each semester. This semester-based devotional is intended to draw students closer to Jesus and to help them grow in discipleship every day. The definition of discipleship is to follow the life and teaching of Jesus Christ in such a way that we become more like Him.
The Why Behind the What
One of the last mandates Jesus gave us was “to make disciples of all nations.” The desire of every Christian should be the same: to become more of a disciple of Christ and to make disciples of those around us.
How does 112 accomplish this? In the beginning of Acts, we see the apostles establishing the local church. Acts 2:42 reads, “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.”
We believe the same method used in Scripture is applicable for us today. The church was built, and continues to be built, through groups of people committed to discipleship and devoted to following Jesus. Daily reading of the Bible and weekly gatherings of groups will be the mechanism of discipleship that leads to a transformed life in Christ.
