SEU Fire to Play Detroit Tigers in 2020 Spring Training Opener
Last February, the SEU Fire Baseball team made program history by playing a Major League Baseball team for the first time. Now, as part of the three-year partnership between the Detroit Tigers and the Fire, the teams are headed back to Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium on February 21 at 1:05 p.m. to launch what promises to be a historic season for both teams.

The Fire, who have already been named as preseason favorites for the 2020 Sun Conference Championship, originally garnered attention from the Detroit Tigers after their historic win of the 2018 NAIA World Series.
The Detroit Tigers are beginning their 84th season at TigerTown, which is the third year of their historic 100 year agreement to make Lakeland their winter home. This is the longest-standing relationship between a Major League team and a current Spring Training host city.
The community is invited to this exciting event! Tickets are now available at SEUfire.com.
A Partnership that Covers the Bases
The partnership between the Fire and Tigers is unique, in that no other MLB team partners with an NAIA team for their exhibition game. In fact, only two other MLB teams participate in similar partnerships, but those are with NCAA Division I schools. Although the Fire fell to the Tigers in last year’s game, both the Fire and the Tigers truly appreciated the opportunity to take the field together, as did 4,965 fans who watched the game at Joker Marchant Stadium.
SEU One Day Visitors
Students who attend SEU One Day on February 21 will spend the morning on campus, learning all about life at SEU, and then enjoy lunch and complimentary admission to the game. High school juniors and seniors who are interested in visiting SEU on February 21 (or during another visit event) are invited to register here.
