Ron Clark to Headline Forum for Education
Southeastern University will welcome Ron Clark back to Lakeland for its Forum for Education on September 15. The hour-long workshop is open to Polk County K-12 educators and will be held at Polk Theatre at 4 p.m.
“Last year’s sold out event was a huge success. We look forward to providing this opportunity again and allowing more Polk County teachers to attend through a new venue,” said Dr. Brian Carroll, executive vice president of Southeastern.
Ron Clark is known to many as “America’s Educator,” the 2000 Disney American Teacher of the Year, a two-time New York Times best-selling author and founder of The Ron Clark Academy. In 2006, Clark founded The Ron Clark Academy, an inner city school serving students from across metro Atlanta. The privately funded institution is unique for its innovative teaching methods and curriculum. Teachers from around the world visit The Ron Clark Academy to observe the innovative and out-of-the-box methods for achieving student success.
“The College of Education family is so excited to welcome Mr. Ron Clark back to our Southeastern University community! Last time he was here, he made a huge impact on our current and future educators, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us this time. Mr. Clark is a rock star in the field of education, and he’s sure to help us think outside the box about how we educate our students!” said Dr. Amy Bratten, dean of the College of Education.
Attendees will be given the opportunity to apply for a scholarship for free tuition in Southeastern’s Master of Education program. Applicants will need to provide an essay for application after registering to attend the event. Polk County School Board employees will also be given the opportunity to receive in-service points for the Forum for Education.
Additionally, a one-day training at The Ron Clark Academy will be given away during the event.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 15, at the Polk Theater in Lakeland, Fla. This event is free and seating is limited to registered attendees. Registration is available online at seuleadershipforum.com. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 877.367.8670.
