Record Number of Spring Graduates
After reaching record-breaking enrollment this fall, SEU is celebrating another milestone…a record number of graduates! A total of 658 students qualified to walk this spring, so we will hold two commencement ceremonies this week.
Graduate and doctoral students will be presented with their degrees on Thursday, May 3, and the ceremony for the undergraduate students will be held the following evening. Both ceremonies will be held at Victory Church in Lakeland at 6:30 p.m. (Note: The Friday evening ceremony is a ticketed event.)
By the Numbers
There are 7 doctoral candidates, 116 master’s candidates, 449 bachelor’s candidates and 86 associate degree candidates. The students that are graduating are from Florida and 32 other states, as well as from ten countriesincluding Brazil, Serbia, the United Kingdom and Paraguay.
The undergraduate class includes Hayden Huffaker, recipient of the Fulbright Award.
SEU chancellor Tommy Barnett will address the graduates at the Thursday night ceremony. Barnett currently co-pastors Dream City Church and is also the founder of the Los Angeles Dream Center. Sayra Lozano, a December MBA graduate, will provide the student address. Lozano currently serves as an administrative assistant and adjunct faculty member in the Jannetides College of Business & Entrepreneurial Leadership.
Congressman Dennis Rosswill provide the commencement address for the undergraduate students on Friday. Ross will also be presented with the President’s Award during the ceremony in recognition of his lifetime of public service. Nathaniel Jordan — a who is graduating with a degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine and minors in both chemistry and theology — will provide the undergraduate student address. Jordan will continue his studies at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.
