MA in Ministerial Leadership – Serving the Church of Today
Southeastern University’s Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership (MAML) program prepares church ministry leaders to meet the diverse and ever-evolving needs of today’s congregations.
“The MAML is SEU’s longest-running master’s degree, and still the most popular degree offered in our School of Divinity,” said Dr. Alan Ehler, Dean of SEU’s Barnett College of Ministry & Theology. “Hundreds of ministry leaders across the country and from around the world have been equipped to better fulfill their callings through this degree.”
This program is designed with a church ministry leader’s schedule in mind. Participate in courses that help you strengthen your ministry, not keep you away from it. In less than two years, you will complete 36 credit hours, which can be taken online or in-person for a traditional MAML degree or a combination of these deliveries as part of the Executive MAML cohort.
“Our innovative courses teach advanced ministry skills combined with solid biblical theology,” said Ehler. With courses like Homiletics, Biblical Interpretation and Proclamation, Spirit Empowered Discipleship, and Practical Theology, you’ll be able to practice better ways to address your congregation while earning your degree. Beginning the fall of 2020, you can choose between a Ministry Track, which is designed for those getting started in church ministry, and the Leadership Track, which involves advanced leadership courses for experienced pastors and ministers.
Graduates of the MAML program increase their capacity to lead by sharpening their skills as executive or campus pastors. Students who complete this program are also better prepared for new opportunities such as becoming a parachurch leader or an overseas missionary.
