Kool 2 B Kind — #GivingTuesday
Part of our #GivingTuesday story series.
Southeastern University equips and empowers our students to get involved, providing easy access to service opportunities that develop them for their careers while serving the community at the same time. SEU’s chapter of Enactus is one program that regularly does just that.
As a club within our Jannetides College of Business & Entrepreneurial Leadership, Enactus students deploy entrepreneurial action to improve the human condition and enable sustainable human progress. In doing so, our students are given the opportunity to do hands-on activities that empower our communities in their development.
One program the SEU Enactus team participates in annually is Kool 2 B Kind, a program that addresses the social issue of bullying in elementary and middle school students. This effort began in the fall of 2013 by Southeastern Enactus members Alexis Quinn and Codey Yingling. Kool 2 B Kind was inspired by a story that they heard of a local seventh grader who took her own life as a result of bullying. Kool 2 B Kind revolves around equipping our college students to impact the next generation by teaching them to build relationships that focus on kindness and respect, following your dreams and empowering kids to make each other feel important.
This year, Enactus has been able to work closely with Southeastern’s Social Work Club and other students on campus to organize regular events for local schools. SEU students spent time playing sports and doing various positive activities with the students, followed by presentations from a guest speakers that focus on how it’s “Kool 2 B Kind.”
The Kool 2 B Kind initiative has grown to a movement that hosts similar events nationwide.
It is because of generous partners like you that we can impact the future of our students, who in return impact our community and the world. By giving to Southeastern University and supporting our general scholarship fund, you invest not only in the life of a student at Southeastern but in the future of our communities. In honor of Giving Tuesday, please consider joining us to empower the call in our students’ lives by making a contribution on our Giving page.
