A Message from the President — Events in the Capitol

The current political landscape and this country’s cultural landscape have never been more fragmented. From cross-party contempt to inner-party turmoil to what happened yesterday at the U.S. Capitol, which was tragic and unacceptable, our political institutions are in danger of becoming irrelevant to the emerging generation.

That’s why I’m so grateful the American Center for Political Leadership (ACPL), under the direction of former Congressman Dennis Ross, was launched from our university. We are teaching our students how to be a significant part of the solution, elevating authentic leadership principles and inspiring the next generation of leaders to engage in government protecting individual freedoms, cultivating civic engagement and advancing political civility.

As a Christ-centered university, we want to be on the forefront of positive change within our nation and its political system.  We are committed to being a part of the solution to the divisiveness in our country. Scripture reminds us to “make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification” (Romans 14:19). I ask that you join me in praying for peace and unity within our nation.
