Southeastern Hosts Writing Festival
Southeastern University’s Department of English and Foreign Languages will host a Summer Writing Festival June 11–14 for high school juniors and seniors and college freshmen and sophomores. The festival features professional writers, including Andrew Skerritt, Warren Doody and Michael Martin.
The festival includes workshops, speakers, readings, games, an open mic night and ways for students to become better writers. Students also have the opportunity to submit a sample of their poetry, fiction or creative nonfiction by May 30 in order to be critiqued by a professional. An awards ceremony will take place on the last night; prizes include $100.
The cost is $199 for residents, which includes the festival with housing and meals, and $99 for nonresidents, including the festival and meals. There are also limited nonresident scholarships available for students. For more information on scholarships, contact Dr. Linda Linzey at 863.667.5247
