Tennessee Alumni News

Todd Nelson (Class of 1993)

I graduated Southeastern in 1993 with a major in Pastoral Ministries with Church Business Administration. I’m currently a financial advisor with Edward Jones. I reside in Spring Hill (Nashville), TN with my wife of 26 years, Renée (Clifton)—whom I met while at Southeastern. We have 4 children. I am still an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. My time at SEC (Southeastern College) was instrumental in that I gained a solid Biblical worldview from which I made my life and career choices. I started out as a pastor, but my role as a financial advisor allows me to still serve others as I would want to be served. SEC is what taught me that principle. My favorite memories of SEC are the parking lot potholes that swallowed cars, the 11:15 p.m. curfews, the no shorts before 3:00 p.m. rule, the no mixed bathing rule, and busting my roommates for curfew violation when I was a Resident Assistant. SEC set me on the course for many of my life events. I’ve served as youth pastor, lead pastor, church planter, and also went on numerous short-term mission trips. But beyond ministry, SEC equipped me to be a better husband, father, and businessman.
