Bachelor of Business Administration

According to U.S. News & World Report, an online degree in business administration is a top choice for students. Southeastern University offers a  Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program that equips students with the foundational business skills that will prepare them to excel in today’s dynamic marketplace.  Each eight-week course is offered completely online through our convenient MyFire learning portal, meaning you can study when and where you want without having to sacrifice your career or personal life. Designed for working adults seeking to advance their careers, Southeastern’s two-year BBA program includes online course work in finance, accounting, marketing, management and more, preparing you with a solid foundation in business as well as skills that can easily be applied in nearly any career field. An optional concentration in leadership can further enhance your employability, preparing you as an effective manager in your workplace. Program learning outcomes include the following:

  • Describe how organizations should encourage ethical behavior and practice social responsibility.
  • Apply technology to enhance organization effectiveness.
  • Identify global trends that impact the business environment.
  • Communicate effectively within a business context.
  • Understand and use foundational concepts related to accounting, business law, the decision sciences, economics, financial analysis, information systems, management and marketing for business decision-making.
  • Identify and apply appropriate leadership styles within various business contexts (leadership track).
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the average college graduate with a degree in business earns around $2.6 million over the course of a career, approximately $200,000 more than the average for graduates with a bachelor’s degree in another area (based on 2011 data).

Major in Business Analysis

Students pursuing the BBA can prepare for a career as a business analyst by developing a strong skill set in information systems, data analysis and project management through our business analysis major. Business analysts focus on identifying the needs of customers and other stakeholders in order to determine technology-enabled solutions to business problems. Your course work will prepare you to successfully earn the following industry certifications:

  • Microsoft Office Excel© Basic and Advanced
  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA©) Level I
  • Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK©) for Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM©)

Sample Core Courses

  • Design Thinking for Business (BBUS 2003) — This course provides an overview of the design thinking process and tools useful for business innovation. Emphasis is on developing an iterative approach to problem solving and explores a variety of design-based methodologies and tools.
  • Business Analytics (BBUS 2333) — This course uses raw data in spreadsheets and databases to produce actionable information to drive management decisions. The course will focus on the data management resources available in standard spreadsheet and database packages. Students will prepare to take the industry standard certification in spreadsheets.
  • Global Business Management (BBUS 3153) — This course provides the knowledge and sensitivity required to successfully manage organizations within the global economy. It explores the geographic, political, social, economic, legal and technological influences on international business. Theories of international trade and development will be explored with an emphasis on global business operations and strategy.
  • Workplace Ethics and Social Responsibility (BBUS 4113) — This course considers legal, societal and Judeo-Christian principles as applied to ethical decisions in the contemporary workplace. The course discusses the role of social responsibility and stewardship or business.
