Dr. Tad Carls

Dr. Carls started at Southeastern University in 2012 after spending nearly a decade in secondary education as an administrator and athletic coach. Previous to his time in education, Dr. Carls was involved in organizational leadership at a number of multinational companies in the high tech industry, including National Semiconductor, Hewlett Packard, and Agilent Technologies. He had the unique opportunity to manage technology delivery teams across the globe for HP and Agilent. He also has experience in entrepreneurial leadership, having been a part of two high tech startups, one in which he was on the executive leadership team as Vice President of Operations.

Dr. Carls’ research focus is on the Transformational Leadership Theory and the impact the transformational leader has on the follower motivation and performance. He teaches leadership courses in the areas of business, human performance, and sport administration. Another role that Dr. Carls takes very seriously is that of student advisor.  In this role Dr. Carls was recognized in 2015 by SEU Leadership, being awarded the SEU Advisor of the Year.

As a result of his experience in high tech leadership, athletic coaching, and academic administration, and through the leading of Jesus Christ, Dr. Carls hopes to guide his students to recognize their divine design, and through his teaching and advising provide them the tools to achieve career success in their chosen field.
