Sharon Steffy grew up in northern New York and moved to the great state of Florida almost 30 years ago. She is married to Lakeland Fire Department Battalion Chief Glenn Steffy and has one son, a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. She has been on staff at Victory Church, in Lakeland, Florida, as the care pastor, where she handled crisis care and coordinated over 150 volunteers in various helps ministries. She resigned her ministerial position at the church in October 2014 and, subsequently, moved from her position as an adjunct professor at Southeastern to a full-time instructor in the Department of Psychology.

Steffy holds a BS in Bible from Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; an MA in Christian Ministries from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary; and a certification in life coaching from ICCA. Her experience includes the following: director of Overcomer’s Support Groups at Victory Church, Lakeland and Youth with a Mission (YWAM) training and ministry in Togo and Ghana, West Africa. In addition to her YWAM experience, she has participated in several mission trips, including El Salvador (assisted with the building of a children’s center), Costa Rica (assisted with the building of a school), Ecuador (ministered to children), Greece (conducted outreaches and ministry in various churches) and Albania (performed assessment work prior to a mission trip).

Steffy has taught the following courses: Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology of Adjustment, Group Counseling, Research Methods, Introduction to Human Services, Developmental Psychology, Introduction to Psychology and Personal and Professional Effectiveness.
