Dr. Melanie Bergeron comes to Southeastern University with over 15 years of social work experience. She began her social work career interning at A Children’s Friend in Rhode Island, where she learned how valuable social work can be for families in need. She continued working with children and families at Bradley Children’s Hospital, where she was a behavior specialist developing individualized behavior plans and advocating for children with varying diagnoses. After moving to Florida, Dr. Bergeron interned at Orange County Public Schools advocating for children and providing support to students and their families. She most recently worked for Advent Health for Children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, assisting families with coping and bereavement and providing support through some of the most difficult times in their lives. In this role, Dr. Bergeron also provided internship supervision to SEU MSW students.

Dr. Bergeron completed her doctorate from the University of Central Florida, where her passion for teaching grew as she served as an adjunct professor for many years. She is excited about the opportunity to share her knowledge and experiences while providing support to future social workers. Dr. Bergeron will teach several courses in the BSW and MSW curriculum including Advanced Clinical Practice with Individuals, Advanced Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families, Writing for Social Work Practice, and Methods for Social Work Research.
