Dr. Agelidis brings excitement to be a member of the Fire Family and over 20 years of social service experience to her practice at Southeastern. She began her career in adult protective services, specializing in older adults and healthcare, and transitioned to a focus on social work with individuals diagnosed with mental illness. Dr. Agelidis also worked in hospital settings, particularly in inpatient psychiatry and emergency room behavioral health treatment. During her hospital career, Dr. Agelidis developed an intensive outpatient mental health program and an emergency room psychiatric evaluation and triage program to address increasing community needs. She has also worked in the private practice setting and most recently managed an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility.

Dr. Agelidis believes in being a lifelong learner and remaining teachable as a social worker. She has mentored undergraduate and graduate students and registered interns. Dr. Agelidis continues to provide clinical supervision for licensure to professionals in the fields of social work and marriage and family therapy.

Dr. Agelidis’ dissertation is titled “Compassion Fatigue in Law Enforcement Officers as Related to Police Killing, Cultural Tension, and Media Coverage.” She is currently planning a follow up study and hopes to expand her research to other the areas of trauma.
