Professor Jim Paton comes to Southeastern with a background in both education and ministry. He has taught special needs high school students in the Polk County School District and has also served as an ordained minister in the local church — preaching, teaching, leading worship, and counseling. Professor Paton believes that the Spirit-led integration of psychology and theology is a worthwhile pursuit, and he tries to lead his classes in this endeavor.
Professor Paton teaches the following courses: Introduction to Psychology, Child and Adolescent Development, Adult Development and Aging, and History and Systems of Psychology. He is also a registered facilitator with Prepare/Enrich and conducts premarital counseling with couples.
