Dr. Charles Smith came to Southeastern University with 19 years of experience in Christian school education, serving as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and administrator/headmaster. Additionally, Dr. Smith served as the president of Florida League of Christian Schools (FLOCS) for seven years and president of the Association of Christian Teachers and Schools (ACTS) for four years. He is also an ordained Assemblies of God minister, serving as a youth and associate pastor for five years, senior pastor for four years, and church school administrator for 15 years.
Dr. Smith has had a desire to return to his alma mater as a professor ever since he received his BA in 1986. He believes that the opportunity to equip future leaders with the knowledge and skills of effective leaders, all in a Christ-centered environment, is unparalleled. He believes that those leaders will have the largest impact on the future of education because they have both the educational knowledge base and the spiritual foundation to impact students academically and spiritually.
Dr. Smith teaches online courses in Southeastern’s master’s and doctoral programs for education. His main research interests are teacher job satisfaction, teacher motivation and any educational leadership topic.
