Cynthia Childs began her library career as the Children’s and Youth Services Coordinator at the Meherrin Regional Public Library in Virginia. She later served numerous years within the public school system as the Library Media Specialist and Testing Coordinator at Totaro Elementary in Brunswick County, Virginia. Prior to coming to Southeastern University, she was as a teacher for the Polk County School board. She joined Southeastern University as the Evening Reference Librarian at the Steelman Library in 2015. She currently serves as the Reference and Outreach Librarian. She teaches Human Diversity and Christian Community for the School of Unrestricted Education.

Mrs. Childs is a minister’s wife and she is passionate about mentoring young adult women and promoting literacy. She and her husband, Micah, have been married since 2012 and have two adorable young children.
