Southeastern University is pleased to announce the Presidential Scholarship for the 2008 academic term. The scholarship is the largest category of awards made to deserving students at all degree levels (associates, baccalaureate and graduate) that have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours as undergraduates or 6 credit hours as graduates. The minimum GPA required for this scholarship is 2.5. Seniors and last quadmester graduate students are not eligible to apply.
Basis of Awards: Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the student's academic record with Southeastern University and the essay they submit. All references to grade point averages (GPA) criteria are cumulative. All scholarships except for the ones designated for graduates require the completion of 12 credit hours at Southeastern. Graduate students must have completed 6 credit hours of their program at Southeastern. Students are urged to pay careful attention to the essay, for it constitutes at least half of the basis for determining the award of the scholarship. The maximum length for an essay is 1,000 words. In addition, a student must have a completed Scholarship Essay Cover Letter, unofficial transcript, and a resume including internships, community service and/or volunteer work. Scholarships are not open to Southeastern employees.
Each scholarship will be in the form of an institutional credit of $1,500 for tuition and/or books that may be applied toward Southeastern courses and/or seminars throughout the academic year of 2008. Under no circumstances are scholarship funds available as a cash refund. The amount and number of awards are subject to and based on funding availability. Nothing in this scholarship application should be construed as a promise for a specified number of awards or specific dollar amount of an award. All recipients will be notified of their award amount. Unused scholarship credit may not be carried beyond the current academic year. Individuals will not be awarded more than one Southeastern scholarship for the academic year 2008. If you receive a scholarship, you must complete 100 percent of your coursework during each enrollment period that scholarship funds were used. If you do not complete 100 percent, the remaining unused portion of the scholarship for the academic year will be canceled. Extenuating circumstances may be grounds for an appeal of this cancellation.
Minimum Course Work Requirement: To satisfy the minimum number of quadmester hours with Southeastern for a given scholarship, students must have satisfactorily completed the required total by the application deadline.
