Students wishing to transfer graduate level courses from other accredited institutions must provide evidence that the courses are comparable in content to those offered in the program of study at Southeastern University. Students may be able to transfer a total of 6 credit hours from previous institution(s) provided those credits carry a grade of "B" (3.0) or better. Evaluations will be done on a course-by-course basis in accordance with regional accreditation standards. Credits earned more than 5 years of the date the student is accepted into Southeastern's graduate program may be considered for possible transfer by the Admissions Committee. English language credits are accepted only from countries in English peaking countries.
Students at Southeastern University must take the final 30 credit hours in residence. Life learning experience credits are not granted for graduate courses.
How to apply-- Graduate Transfer Status
Applicants who wish to transfer into the graduate program must provide the following:
Application: Submit a properly completed application form with a non-refundable $50 fee.
Transcripts: Make arrangement to have official or certified true copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all colleges and universities attended sent directly to the Admissions Office.
* Transcripts of earned degrees must show graduation date. Faxed copies and photocopies will not be accepted.
* The term official means a computer-generated record of your transcript or copy of your original transcript certified by an officer of your school or by a notary public.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (For Computer Science majors only): If applying for the Master of Science in Computer Science, satisfactory performance on the GRE (General Exam) is required with a minimum cumulative score of 1200. Arrange to have the test results sent to Southeastern (school code #5622) by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). You can obtain a bulletin for the GRE by visiting their web site at http: //www.gre.org. Faxed copies and photocopies of test results will not be accepted. The GRE must have been taken within the last five years to be considered valid for admissions. Applicants who have earned an advanced degree are not required to submit GRE scores.
A minimum 3.0 undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) on a 4.0 scale: Applicants who have not earned at least 9 graduate credits from a recognized accredited institution within or outside the United States must petition the Admissions Committee by submitting the following; (a) a typewritten personal statement at least 500 words, describing why you wish to pursue your graduate program at Southeastern, and how the degree will serve your career goals and objectives; and (b) two letters of recommendation from references who will be able to relate specific and relevant details about your performance. Recommendations enable Admissions Committee to gain additional information about your ability, potential, and readiness for the graduate program you selected. We suggest you seek references from faculty members, advisors, internship supervisors, and current or past employers, or colleagues. Arrange to have the personal statement and letters of recommendation sent directly to the Admissions Office for timely clearance.
Applicants who completed at least 9 credit hours of graduate work from an accredited institution with a CGPA of 3.0 do not have to petition the Admissions Committee.
Immunization (vaccination) records: All applicants under the age of 26 must provide copies of immunization records showing vaccination for Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) and Diphtheria/Tetanus (DT).
Southeastern University reserves the right to deny admission to an applicant based on prior academic performance and/or poor standardized exam results.
