WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Welcome! You have made the decision to "get a jump" on your college education by enrolling in Southeastern University's College Access Program (CAP), but what's next?

We hope that you will take full advantage of this time between high school and college to reinforce and to enhance your English, mathematics, and computer skills in preparation for taking the college assessment exam. The scheduled classroom periods, computer laboratory sessions, and extra-curricula activities, including field trips, are designed to assist you not only toward the program's short term goals, but also to provide you with the confidence to undertake a university education and thereby increase your long-term options.

The success of the program is truly a cooperative effort between the University faculty, staff, administration - and you. The sessions are intensive, but you will have the full support of the CAP instructors and staff to guide you through the maze of activities. At the end of the program, it is hoped that you will have learned more about your school, your city and yourself to help further your studies.

The ultimate success of the program will be your admission into an accredited university-level program. After CAP, we hope you will consider Southeastern University as your full time educational institution.

WHAT WE OFFER

The English segment of CAP is devoted to improving your writing and reading skills through classroom, library, and computer laboratory participation. After an assessment of your current writing proficiency and grammar skills level, you will be quickly immersed in the writing and reading comprehension course of study.

The mathematics segment of CAP is devoted to improving your mathematics skills through classroom and computer laboratory participation. Following an assessment of your basic arithmetic skill level, the sessions will then proceed to cover a range of applications, from the rudiments of arithmetic, graphing, factoring, the art of measuring, and algebra to the challenges of quadratic equations.

The computer segment of CAP is devoted to an introduction to fundamental concepts and applications of information systems, important in an environment characterized by heavy use of computers. Provides a foundation for understanding the need for management of data as an organizational resource. Basic orientation is toward business data processing and applied information technology, rather than theoretical computer science, numerical analysis, or scientific data processing.
