Interim Chair's Bio
Dr. Kassu Gebremariam
Kassu Gebremariam earned a Ph.D. in International Relations from York University in Toronto, an M.A. in International Relations Theory from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, and a B.A. in Public Administration and Political Science from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
Dr. Gebremariam, a specialist on the political economy of African countries and conflict management and state building, has worked for several years as the Coordinator of the Social and Natural Sciences for the Department of Liberal studies. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Strayer University, Takoma Park, Md., and the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). Previously, he has been an adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland in College Park, the American University in Washington, DC, and the University of Baltimore, as well as Wayne State University in Detroit.
Dr. Gebremariam teaches courses at Southeastern in the Humanities, Philosophy, Political Science and Communications. He is the author of the book, Teaching Amharic for Young Ethiopians in the Diaspora, published in 2005, and has published several articles and book chapters, primarily on the Horn of Africa’s conflicts
