Biography
Dr. Patty LeBlanc was born and raised in the great state of Texas and still considers it home, even after spending almost 30 years in Florida! She was a classroom teacher for 10 years in Texas and Mexico, then moved to Miami to work on her doctorate at the University of Miami. After completing her degree, she took a few years off to raise two beautiful and brilliant daughters while teaching part-time at the University of Miami, Florida International University, and Florida Atlantic University. She returned to full-time teaching in the College of Education's graduate education division at Barry University. While there, she wrote and was awarded a $600,000 grant from the US Department of Education for infusing technology across the K-5 curriculum in Dade County Public Schools. That project won state-wide recognition as an exemplary initiative in math, science, and technology.
In 1997, Dr. LeBlanc moved to Celebration, Florida with her family and taught in the graduate education program at Stetson University. She also wrote, received, and administered a $2 million Federal grant for assisting faculty to prepare pre-service teachers to use technology effectively in their teaching.
Dr. LeBlanc has served at Southeastern University since the fall of 2004. She teaches language arts methods, assessment of learners, classroom management, and children's literature. She also is spearheading the Master's of Arts in Elementary Education program and sponsors Southeastern's chapter of education honor society Kappa Delta Pi. |
