Southeastern’s Department of English & Foreign Languages trains students to be critical readers, thinkers and writers through a broad study of language, literature and writing. On-campus literary events include Open Mic Night, a gathering where students and faculty read original poetry and prose, and the Summer Writing Festival, a celebration of writing including speakers and workshops. Students can also participate in study-abroad trips to England and Nicaragua, where academic learning is given perspective in real-world settings. In addition to two bachelor’s options, students can earn a TESOL certification or minors in English, Greek, French and Spanish. Our graduates are prepared for advanced study in English, as well as careers in teaching, law, missions, journalism, marketing, business, publishing and more.
