Southeastern’s Department of English & Foreign Languages trains students to be critical readers, thinkers, and writers through a broad study of language, literature, and writing. On-campus literary events include Speak That, a spoken word poetry reading, and the Summer Writing Festival, a celebration of writing including speakers and workshops. Students can also participate in study-abroad trips to England and Nicaragua, where academic learning is given perspective in real-world settings. In addition to two bachelor’s options, students can earn minors in English, Greek, and Spanish and are prepared for advanced study in English, as well as careers in teaching, law, missions, journalism, marketing, business, publishing, and more.
