Dr. Lucy B. Stella has taught at Southeastern University since 2013. Before coming to SEU, she worked at South University in Tampa and served in associate and baccalaureate degree nursing programs from Daytona Beach to Ft. Lauderdale. Dr. Stella also served two years as director of nursing for a private college in Ft. Lauderdale. She developed many online courses as the initial nursing courses for community colleges. Her clinical experience is mainly in ICU, oncology and emergency room nursing. She has also held positions as nurse manager and nurse educator beyond bedside nursing in the hospital setting. Her doctoral work was based on nursing simulation and student success.
When not in the classroom, she is very busy with her family, which includes her husband, Louis, and eight children and 11 grandchildren. Dr. Stella is also very active in her home church, acting as recording secretary, developing the weekly bulletin and singing in the choir. She has also been the chair of her church’s team for the Bartow Relay of Life since 2013. Dr. Stella is pleased to be at SEU, where God’s precepts are followed by administration, faculty, staff and students alike.
Dr. Stella has been instrumental in developing several of the courses for the RN to BSN program during her first year at SEU and teaching the courses she has developed. In 2014–2015, she will finish out developing the remaining RN to BSN courses and start developing the BSN professional course syllabi. In 2015–2016, she will begin teaching full time in the nursing simulation laboratory.
