Dr. Jim Anderson came to Southeastern in 2015 after serving in the U.S. Army as a research psychologist. During his military service, he was part of several major research efforts aimed at reducing the psychological impact of deployment and combat as well as understanding how stressors affect service members and their families.
Dr. Anderson is passionate about research and, since 2008, has been involved in numerous projects as a statistical consultant. He is equally excited about helping students understand the role of research in expanding scientific knowledge and informing public policy. To this end, he enjoys teaching courses in statistics and research design.
Additionally, Dr. Anderson is an ordained minister and has been involved in ministry since 1993, along with his wife Christy. During this time, he has served in a variety of roles, from youth and children’s pastor to senior pastor. He believes all Christians have been called to positively impact the lives of others.
As a consequence of his passion for research, desire to train students and love of ministry, Dr. Anderson’s hope is to aid students in integrating their faith and research interests in a way that can impact the scientific community, help shape policy and provide a platform to share Christ. His research interests include measurement theory, spiritual development, personality, behavioral health outcomes among U.S. military and implicative dilemmas as barriers to change.
