Biography

Dr. Alan Ehler began serving as dean of the College of Christian Ministries & Religion in 2013. From 2008-2013, he served as associate professor of pastoral ministries and chair of the departments of church ministries and missions, the master’s program for missional leadership, and the master’s program for ministry for Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. During that time, he was also the overseer of Branch Churches for Cedar Park Church. In the latter role, he worked with eight congregations from Vancouver, B.C., to Puyallup, Washington.

Before moving to Kirkland, Dr. Ehler was lead pastor at Warm Beach Community Church near Stanwood, Washington (2000-2008). He also served on staff at Bellevue (Washington) Neighborhood Church from 1995-2000 after seven years of active duty as a civil engineering officer in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Ehler earned a doctorate in ministry from George Fox Evangelical Seminary in 2007. His dissertation was Preach to Reach: Seven Characteristics of Effective Evangelistic Preaching. He did his master’s work at Fuller Seminary, Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and Liberty University. He also has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.

Dr. Ehler is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and has served as a district presbyter, church coach, and consultant, as well as in a variety of other roles. He is an avid road bicyclist and raced with the Bikesale.com team while living in Kirkland.
