Biography
Chosen as Southeastern University's Vice President for Student Development in the spring of 2011, Chris Owen immediately began envisioning the possibilities for advancing and enriching the various departments within Student Development. He oversees all areas of Student Engagement - including departments such as Residents Life, Student Activities, Student Mentoring, and First Year Experience - as well as Athletics, Student Services, and Chapel.

Chris is known for his love for students and his passion for developing leaders. He understands the transformational impact of faith and higher learning, and has a vision for creating a campus experience that empowers students to reach their potential in becoming who God created them to be. His innate ability to think visually helps him to convey ideas and long-term goals for unifying the campus community and deepening the level of spirituality within the culture of the university.

Prior to his current position at Southeastern, Chris served as Campus Pastor from the fall of 2009, to the spring of 2010, while also teaching classes in the Religion Department. Some of the courses he has taught since his arrival to Southeastern includes: Evangelizing and Discipling Youth, Intro to the Bible, Youth Ministries, and Survey of Christian Theology.

Before being hired as a faculty/staff member, he, along with his wife Molly, and two kids, Ethan and Maddie, lived in North Carolina, where Chris served in pastoral ministry for 17 years. In his down time, Chris loves to be out on the water with his family and friends duck hunting, wakeboarding, and surfing.
